Date: Saturday, December 26, 2009 09:29 am Subject: Whitley and Billie took it all!Hey Angela!I wanted to send you a few pictures from Whitley and Billie’s first show. They were unbelievable. Four classes, four blue ribbons and took home the trophy for their division!!! What a wild ride!! They were untouchable and Billie was rock solid, even when Whitley seemed a little nervous. Billie stepped into that arena and it was game on - what a fantastic horse!!!They are switching over to Western now and Whitley wants to barrel race and learn reining. We checked out your pictures on your website this morning – he was VERY impressed. I heard a whole lot of “wow”, “oh man” and “that’s what I’m talking about”!!Dana Shelton

March 17, 2007Hey Angela,I bought Nitro from you a little over a year ago and he is the best horse I have ever owned! He is calm and willing to do anything you ask him to do. The first picture is at Biltmore in Asheville where I rode him on a cross country course and he loved it! The second is of us at Homestead Farms practicing jumping. I rode him in a flat class in October 2006. We placed 3rd, 5th, and 6th in that class. I am so glad that I discovered your website and so is Lisa! Nitro, Melody, Dakota, and the pony have been a great addition to the farm. I'll never go anywhere else to look for a horse when I need one!! Thanks again for your great business! Monday, March 02, 2009 06:43 pmAngela,Hey hope you're doin' well, and moved into the new place. I would like to see it. The Belgian, Tex, I got from you is going GREAT and I really love him!! What a sweetheart he is!I renamed him, Duncan MacLeod, seemed to suit him and a horse that big deserves a first and last name. I have attached a couple pics from a couple months ago. He was really easy to train, and is learning all the time. I have taught him collected trot, side-pass, lateral trotting, backing, his leads, come when I call him (whistle) and to shake "hands"! I ride him with a dressage saddle, and he looks like a police horse with it. He really touches everyone he meets. He is definitly a gift from heaven... or somewhere!Anyway...another happy home for one of your horses!

Hey Angela, just wanted to let you know how fantastic Cowboy is doing. I’ve shown him twice this year in judged shows and he took 2 firsts, 3 seconds, 2 thirds and 1 reserve grand champion in western pleasure classes. I’m hoping to get him in a trail course soon but I have to learn about it more. I’m sure he can do it with his eyes closed. I’ve gotten him to do a very slow walk and trot but am still working on the lope. Any ideas for me? His color is like Brown Sugar Bar with very white mane and tail. He is sooooo gorgeous and well behaved. I understand why he is one of your all time favorites. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to ride for a week as I fell off when he shyed at a tractor/bailer last Wed on a trail ride. I think by this weekend I’ll be able to sit again HA! I have some pictures coming from the last show on May 13 and will send one to you. The judge says he would be an excellent jumper or Hunt seat (whatever that is) but I’m sticking with Western. Next show is in September. Can I talk you and your friends into coming up for it? We have 5 bedrooms so you could stay here Friday night and we can drink marguaritas and head to the show in the morning. It’s only about 6 miles from my house at Sundance Stables.Hope all is well with you. Love your new website. It just keeps getting better and better. If you ever need a testimonial letter please let me know as you are the all time expert at handpicking the horse that will best suit the rider, even riders with histories like me. MAGIC!Pat Jackson

October, 15, 2007Angela,Just a note to let you know how very pleased we are with Scribbles. Alex has ridden him twice (that's two times more than he has been on any other horse this year!) and Kelly has taken him trail riding twice in the three weeks we have had him. He is such a solid, reliable horse--acts more like a 12 year old than a 3 year old. And what the kids really like is that even though he has a placid temperament, he will move on whenever the rider asks. Do you know who trained Scribbles? I've got a couple of kids in my 4-H group that have horses who could use the kind of training Scribbles has benefited from. Anyway, thanks once again for having just the right horse for us. Claudia (DVM in Williamston, SC)Horse #1-Rocky Horse #2 Scribbles
Date: Monday, July 19, 2010 10:59 pm Subject: Update from a happy buyerAngela,We bought Rocky in 2006 and I sent a picture of Kelly winning a first place in her first show on Rocky (2007 SC state 4H horse show, Junior Hunter Under Saddle). Kelly spent most of the next two years working with Scribble Me Gray (the fourth horse we bought from you) and Rocky became the "boyfriend" horse. This year she started working with Rocky again -- jumping and dressage, and did amazingly well. In Dressage, Kelly was second in a class of 25 and third in a class of 15 earning her enough points to be named Dressage Grand Champion. I've attached a picture taken by Billie Lewis Photography.Anyway, many thanks for the horses we've bought from you and your help in finding just the right ones.Claudia McNair, DVM

Several years ago when my daughter first started riding, we came down to Angela's old barn...back when the horses & cows lived together down a dirt road you couldn't get a trailer through. We bought a pink pony … actually he was white with pink skin & hair down to his nose...a Welsh Cross. We named him Carolina Cotton & had him for a couple years. He was the BEST pony ever & he taught Anabel how to ride & how to take care of him. We loved him dearly & still do. Broke our hearts the day we said good-bye to him. Anabel got too big for Cotton so we took him back to Angela's barn which was now a bigger barn with a round pen & an arena down the road. We traded Cotton plus some cash for Moses. Moses was a six year old Driftwood Buckskin Quarter Horse. If you looked up Quarter Horse in the dictionary, there would be a picture of Moses...he is that pretty. I remember that day because I rode a lot of horses & there were some nice ones, but Moses was special. Moses was beautiful & brave & smart & I knew he was the horse we had to have. Angela drove a hard bargain that day, but we brought him home. She said if we ever want to sell him to bring him back to her & we would, but we won't ever sell him. Anabel has taken Moses from a cow pony to a hunter jumper to a dressage horse. He is pretty fancy now & she loves him madly. He's not perfect, but he's pretty close They have grown up together & Anabel would tell you she wouldn't have another horse for anything. So between our first pony Cotton and Moses we have had the very best experience we could ask for with Angela. After all these years I still look at her stock & she has kept in touch with us (she loves Moses & probably wishes she still had him!) through email & Facebook. I have referred friends to her many times over & I wish her all the blessings in life. Regards,Sonja & Anabel & Moses July 2010

Friday, June 01, 07Hi Angela,I wanted to share this with you and give you an update on Shotgun. Before we went to look at your horses I prayed that the Lord would lead us to the right horse for Bailey. Those prayers were answered with Shotgun. We absolutely adore him and have spoiled him rotten. He is all settled in his new home and as soon as we drive up he comes to greet us. (Having snacks doesn’t hurt either). Everyone talks about how beautiful he is. The owner where we board him is partial to gray horses and loves him. Bailey had her first lesson on him this past Sunday. He was just so tolerant of her. His walk is like the trot of the horse she had been riding. We got him a red halter that looks so good with the gray. He loves apples but not very fond of carrots. We are still learning how to care for him and have given him a bath and put fly spray on him. Have a great week end.Aloma, Wilmington, NC
May 22, 07HEY ANGELA!! I rode Ann today and she was GREAT today!! We didn't take any pictures but I will send you one so you can put this and a picture on your ''happy homes'' page!! She comes right up to me in the pasture and I put my sister on her when i was done riding to cool her down because all she knows how to do is walk and she was great!! So when I was done riding her i gave her 2 treats and rinsed her off and let her go and she didn't want to leave me so we had to feed her anyways and we put some grain in a bucket and she went to it!!S he is a GREAT HORSE and A LOT of FUN!! In 2006, Kevin from Charlotte called looking for a barrel horse for his 8 yr old daughter. They came down and tried out AQHA Spurs N Wranglers. It was the perfect match.June 2008 I received this e-mail: Thanks for the 2 and 1/2 horses that you have sold me. There could have not been a better horse for Cheridan than Spurs. And Skip and spurs' Baby Lillies is the match. Thanks a bunch Angela.. Kevin Here are two articles published about his daughter, Cheridan and her wonderful mare, Spurs!http://mybannernews.com/articles/2008/04/110.htmlRodeo champ rides again By TARA MANJARRES - Thu, Apr 17, 2008MOUNT HOLLY—She’s what you might call a millennium-day cowgirl.Nine-year-old Cheridan Gowan is one of those kids you meet who you know instantly has a special connection to horses.Although she admits to loving all of God’s creatures, her forte is horses and she’s been riding them most of her life.“When I was four I went to this barn and rode this gray mare named Dusty and I just had this really good time,” she recalled. “I just loved how it felt sitting up there high on a horse and after I got off I just started begging dad to take me to go riding again.”Apparently the begging paid off.Cheridan recently won the pole bending and barrel racing championship at the Winter Rodeo Series in South Carolina. In fact, the pint-sized equestrienne has won so many competitions and rodeos the Gowan family has lost count.“Somewhere between 50 and 100 I think,” laughed dad, Kevin. It’s easy to forget as there is something to do nearly every weekend. The Winter Rodeo Series began in November 2007 and wrapped up two weeks ago. Already this April, Cheridan has won first place in goat tying at the Mount Pleasant Circle K Rodeo. And at the Double H Ranch, she again picked-up a first-place honor in barrel racing.Like a lot of athletes, Cheridan has a special ritual before her race.“When I’m riding up to go into the arena, I say a prayer to God to keep me safe.”Then it’s go time, she announced.“And next I make sure to tell my horse I’m gonna get her through the strategy I planned when we were warming up.”Cheridan thanks one of her early horse’s, “Lady,” who helped prepare her for the sport.“She taught me how to run,” she said. “I learned how to run and how to workup my courage. I felt real comfortable on her and I knew then that I wanted to do a fast sport like barrel racing.”Cheridan’s dad said he was reluctant when it came to letting his little girl learn the ropes because she’s not exactly from equine ancestry.“My grandfather had a horse. He was a farmer,” said Kevin, who can also ride but knew there was something different about Cheridan.“She had wanted her own horse since she was 5-years-old,” said Kevin. “At some point I realized she just had this knack for it. She wasn’t scared of them, and she understood how to push them while being careful with them.”Sitting in the family living room in a pink western shirt, horse earrings in her ears and County Music Television playing in the background, Cheridan talks about horses more easily than most adults. She reads and studies about them. She’s learned their anatomy. She’s seen one of her horses get colic and die and has seen another one give life. But with all of her knowledge, she said there’s one lesson every adult needs to know.“They may be really big animals but they are not scary,” she said. “All they really want to do is come up next to you and love on you.”
9-year-old girl wins riding medals April 6, 2008 - 10:34PM By Amanda MillardMOUNT HOLLY - Cheridan Gowan started riding horses when she was 4 years old.She wakes up at 6 a.m. to feed them every morning and practices riding after school"Ever since she was a little girl she's had a knack for horses," said her father Kevin Gowan. "All she talked about was horses."Once Gowan let his daughter ride, she was hooked."That's all she wanted to do," Gowan said. "‘Can I ride? Can I ride?'"The 9-year-old has put some rodeo championships under her belt buckle. She recently won the pole bender and barrel racing championship at the Winter Rodeo Series in South Carolina."I just really like going fast," Cheridan said. "I love riding."Before a rodeo, Cheridan checks the pads and saddle and makes sure her quarter horse, Spurs, is ready."And then you just get on and go," Cheridan said. "I get anxious because I'm just ready to go."Cheridan's friends often come over to ride with her after school. The horses are kept at Cheridan's grandparents' place. Their next-door neighbors have an arena."Summertime she would live over there if I let her," Gowan said. But for now, Cheridan stays busy with school, church and riding. She knows she'll keep riding as she grows up and may want to pursue a career in rodeo."I guess I'll try to get into the pro rodeo when I get older," she said.
